Being Smart

This is not the least bit an unsolvable problem, we have the engineering knowledge, and I can point to more than enough wasted public dollars that could have financed the solution. The only problem is the lack of astute leadership.

It has long been a problem, here is just one press story, “. . . trucks on Bay Street.

On this site, there has sat (for well over a decade) the solution for not only ridding most of the truck traffic from Bay Street, from Liberty and from Oglethorpe, but much of the auto traffic, as well, creating a greatly needed East-West thru-way, uptown (yes, it is ‘uptown’).

When I first broached this subject on a social media site (in 2013), I was publicly chastized, and ridiculed, for being grossly ignorant of Savannah’s ‘special’ soil circumstances, (purportedly) making any below grade construction untenable. I was cut off before being able to educate the ‘pile on’ detractors.

Below grade construction has taken place in all soil types, there are too many examples; do some research. I will not spend time on the engineering details, or addressing the particulars which I well could, since everything else detailed on this site has gone to waste.

The overview can be found under the ‘Transportation’ tab, then click the Liberty Street Tunnel. Astute persons, who are curious, have questions about those details referenced, can use the Contact info. I will be happy to engage your interest, get down to where the rubber meets the ‘below grade’ roadway.
